Dishes to BOSSIP under the stars about the Howard experience and details of the upcoming purpose-built party for HBCU Buzz’s honorees.

Happy Homecoming week! What are some of your fondest memories of your time at Howard?

The first Homecoming in October 2005 was incredibly memorable and FUN. My mom is a Howard Alum and I’m from the DMV so I’ve attended before, but there’s nothing like your first as a student and your first as a graduate! Becoming Lady of Alpha Chapter, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc in the Spring of 2007 and meeting some of my best friends. Howard University has changed my life and I will always do my best to give back to the university that gave me so much!

Most of us at BOSSIP are HBCU graduates so we totally understand the HBCU experience, but what does the HBCU experience mean to you and what advice would you give someone considering studying at one of our historically Black colleges and universities?

The HBCU experience is one in which you have the distinct honor and privilege of being surrounded by bright, beautiful and ambitious students, faculty and staff just like you. It’s an invaluable place where as a black person you feel incredibly seen, valued and understood. The advice I would give is, “An experience I’m happy to say I didn’t miss. Every day in my life I see the benefits and blessings of attending an HBCU. I don’t regret it, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I personally don’t know anyone who would regret their decision. That says a lot!”

Howard Homecomings is legendary—if you could describe the experience in three words, what words would you choose?

Unique, Refreshing & BLACK!

Tell us more about your partnership with DIAGEO and HBCU Buzz’s 30 Under 30—what qualifications do those selected for this honor have?

I am excited to partner with DIAGEO and brands honoring the next generation of Black leaders. Together we will celebrate the latest HBCU Buzz Class under 30 and celebrate each honoree’s impact and impressive achievements to build a better future during one of my favorite times, the Howard Homecoming. I am proud to pay this up and support my HBCU community friends as we raise the next generation of difference-makers who leave a mark for others in their communities!

We also heard about the opening of the Bison Ball, what can attendees expect?

A celebration! Right after the 30 Under 30 Reception, that night we’ll be partying with a purpose at the Bison Homecoming. This will be a night of Black excellence, with many notable alumni who raise a toast to these glorious honorees under one roof. There will be music and of course the delicious CIROC, Crown Royal, Tequila Don Julio and Tanqueray cocktails. I’m excited to get together with my HBCU family and release them!

What’s next? we heard that you “Trials of Victory” podcast and a recurring role soon To rule the world.

Every Monday more episodes of TTT that get me so excited. You can see me again in the second season of NBC. GREAT TEAM (wink, wink) and I can’t wait for the world to meet Miss India Blue in the second season of Starz RULE THE WORLD. I’m always creating and collaborating with more!
